About Robert
When elected, Robert will be the first Latino to hold a seat on our City Council!
Robert is a downtown resident who was drawn to raising his family in Marlboro for its historic beauty and strong sense of community. Born in Los Angeles, Robert was drawn to the greater Boston area to pursue his education and career. He is the co-founder of Marlborough Makers, a collective of local artists, and a founding member of One Marlborough, a neighborhood group committed to diversity and inclusion in government. He participates in many city initiatives such as the Marlborough Farmers Market, the downtown Food Truck Festival, the Horribles Parade, and an active supporter of previous local candidate campaigns.
Robert holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked with numerous engineering startups in the Boston area specializing in non-destructive materials testing. Currently, he works as a full-time machinist specializing in biotech and fluid mechanics industries.

Before becoming an engineer, Robert attended Le Cordon Bleu and was a chef in Boston's top restaurants for 15 years.
While a chef Robert had the privilege of cooking for Bon Appetit Magazine and at the James Beard House. He competed in the Taste of WGBH Food Fight where he prepared dishes to be judged against some of Boston's best chefs. Robert supported at-risk youth by volunteering with Future Chefs, a program that equips youth with culinary skills, work experience and mentorship.
Giving back to his community is important to Robert. He has volunteered for community service opportunities such as distributing food at the Marlborough Food Pantry and participated in Marlborough Clean Sweep each spring.

Robert ran the Safe Passage 5K which raises money to support education for youth in Guatemala's most underserved cities.
Nature is important to Robert. He is an avid hiker, recently backpacking across the Grand Canyon. Although Arizona is beautiful, he prefers the peaks of New England such as Katahdin and Wachusett. When he is not hiking, kayaking or biking, he loves spending time with his daughter, tending to her hens. As a native Spanish speaker, Robert enjoys raising his daughter to be bilingual through hands-on activities like building their backyard vegetable garden.
